Very delicious cake! My family made it together for a birthday and turned out delicious. Next time I will reduce the overall sweetness of the cake and frosting since it was a bit too sweet and set the baking timer to 32mins since it was almost overbaked at 40mins.

Liv, just to let you know I ended up going with 5 layers (for a 70th birthday cake) and it was perfect. Not overly sweet and full of flavour. The non-cake eaters were even fans! Thank you!

In reply to Lauren. Hi Lauren! This cake is more on the dense side due to the apples, but 6 layers is a very tall cake. I would do it as a double barrel cake -- you can google to see what that looks like.

Is it possible to make this in a 6 inch, but up to 6 layers tall? Or does the cake need to be more dense to hold?
