Made this for my husband’s birthday and followed everything with the exception of using a American butter cream. I did 2 8 in cakes cut in half since it was just 5 people. This cake was so amazing and had that cookie dough taste everyone loves so much.

Ooooomg. I tweaked the recipe a tad bit (added a tad extra brown sugar, used 1/2 salted butter, etc) because I hate feeling like I’m copying someone else’s hard work lol! But WOW! What an amazing cake! I did the crushed cookie bottom border about 1/3 of the way up, and I used two 7”x3” pans and cut those in half horizontally to get 4 even layers, and I put edible cookie dough layers in between each of the cake layers. Once frosted, I did a chocolate ganache pour over to create an even coated top, with gorgeous silky drips down the side. Once that cooled a tad, I added homemade chocolate chip cookies on top for added goodness!! I wish I could post a picture here. I never comment on recipes, but once I made it, I knew I had to come back and give you MAJOR credit for having this idea before I did! Lol! Thank you!

In reply to Violet C. Hi Violet! For sure, just add the crushed cookie crumbs to an American buttercream. You may want to start with less sugar and add more if needed. Or you may need to add more cream if it's too stiff after adding the cookie crumbs. Either way, ABC is very forgiving and easy to work with.

I love all your cakes but just wondering if there is a way to change the buttercream to an all American buttercream?! I’ll be making this for kids…. If you could help me out that would be great. Thank you a bunch.

In reply to Violet C. Hi Violet! I would use this recipe and add cookie crumbs to it. You may wan to cut back on some of the sugar though, and you may have to add a bit more cream if needed.
