Hi Allyson! For the other cake I wanted to make sure I had enough buttercream as it is a bit taller due to the extra cookie dough layers 🙂

Is there a reason why you use 2c butter in this buttercream vs 3c in your chocolate chip cake buttercream? Just curious because I wanted to make one batch and split in half to make one half oatmeal and one half choc chip :). Thank you!

Hi Jeanette! Baking time would be the main thing to watch out for. Also, double the frosting recipe will be a lot so make sure your mixer is big enough to handle it.

Besides adjusting the backing time is there anything else that I would need to know to achieve a successful turnout?

Hi Cindi! Good catch. I actually didn’t use cinnamon in the crumble but it is an ingredient in my oatmeal cookies which I used as a base for the crumble. https://livforcake.com/oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies/ I accidentally left it in the instructions. This delicious cake got raves when I served it the other night! Such a delicious twist with the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie flavors.

Bonus: the leftover oat crumble is tasty on oatmeal and in yogurt with some fruit. We also had some leftover oatmeal cookie buttercream that we spread on waffles. The delicious dessert contributed to several delicious breakfasts!
